How is everyone doing where you live? How much is the slowdown affecting you or people around you?
Just curious to see how everyone's doing.

It will be good for me when I come back to buy property this spring. Prices got ridiculously high a few years ago, people were smoking crack trying to sell acreage for what they wanted... This just puts everything back to where it should be in the area we are looking (Spokane, Wa)....
The economic stimulous package was good for us, that $1200 will let us buy 1 month earlier than planned...
Honestly though, you should see it in Europe, our dollar isn't shit, it is horrible. They pay me almost an extra $1000 a month just for adjustments of living expense because of the exchange rate...

well, i'm a college fool, and I work for a wood flooring company part time.
The company has been operating with a negative profit for over a year and just put their 2.5million dollar building up for sale.
and the same goes for all the other house building companies out here. about 50% of them are out of business, more losing every day. but this is good and bad. When the market levels out there will be less competition.
and yea, college living is gettingharder, I spend 70% of each check on food and gas now, I've been cutting back on expenses and do little but work and school and mountain biking (its unlimited free fun, lol)
take it this way, you now when times are tight when you quit drinking coffee to save $60-100 a month.

I'd love to buy up some property down there but my American credit rating does not exist!
The real estate market has ground to a halt here (Vancouver BC), but prices are steady. The economy seems to be fine so far.

To be honest I haven't noticed it at all. I just started my new job and am making more money than I thought I would with my first job out of college. I'm kinda happy the housing market fell, though it's too bad I can't take advantage of it like I wish I could because I'm still a couple years away from having the 20% down payment (just starting to be able to save with this new job).
The only thing that would affect me is the gas prices because I drive 30 minutes to and from work. But that isn't 100% economy-based.

It is possible to get loans by using credit from other countries... Its more of a pain, but possible.

We're still ok here.. The company I work for is still strong.. Some of our residential construction heavy locations are down a bit, but on the whole we're exceeding both last year's numbers and this year's budget..
The only symptom I've seen personally is WAMU arbitrarily doubling my CCD interest rate.
