I need some 6.5" 2-ways to replace my stock rears. Under 100 dollars or so, soft/silk tweeter. Ready........go!

WHAT!... just disconnect those rears.... who needs em? Unless you are gearing up to sell your vehicle why waste your money on them?

I knew I was going to get at least one of those types of responses, so I should have mentioned in my first post that I like rear fill. I only have fronts playing right now and I don't like it. I like the sound of music all around me.

Have you heard either of those Nigel? My friend has a pair of Pioneers, not sure of the exact model unfortunately. But the mids on those sound really good, but his pair have a metal tweeter that I don't like. So if those ones you linked have a similar mid but just with a different tweet that may be good.

I was also thinking about Alpine. I think both the S and R use silks.

I would go to a shop but I hate salespeople because they always push you so hard to buy something if they test it out for you. And they are just rears. My fronts do most of the work, really for the rear I just need something to be there. I actually didn't mind my stock ones that much except that the midrange was pretty flat.

I'm with this guy...if you've got 200 bucks for front and rear speakers combined, spend the 200 on fronts and it'll sound better than 2 pair of 100 buck speakers ever will.

I don't know about you, but I don't go to a concert and turn around backward so I get 'rear fill'. I'm not saying you can't run rear fill, but after ditching mine, I'll never go back!

I already have fronts, just want to replace the rears. And I'm not trying to replicate concert sound. I don't know who made it the common conception that you should try to make your car be like a concert, but I don't agree with it. I still agree that most of the money and good components should be up front, though.

have heard the type r coaxes (but I think they were an older version with metal tweets), but not the pioneers. I just went to ebay and typed in 6.5" speakers under ebay motors and that's what came up that looked like good quality under 100 bux.

Around here you can't get good pioneeer, just bottom of the line stuff that the box stores carry.
